PANELISTS: HELEN HUGHES, Medical Director, Office of Telemedicine, Johns Hopkins Medicine; MAULIK MAJMUDAR, Chief Medical Officer & Cofounder, Biofourmis; and REGIS ZAMUDIO, Vice President of ElaraConnect, Elara Caring

Hospital-at-home models rely on a variety of technology solutions to deliver care, including integrated electronic health records, remote patient monitoring, telehealth, analytics, and administrative systems. Under these models, patients are receiving inpatient level care at home, which requires investments in equipment and technology, and in people who can maintain and use the technology and systems. This means that technology systems traditionally used in inpatient and outpatient settings must be able to share information and deliver insights at the point of care, which is the patient’s home. To truly be a sustainable, broad-based and embedded in our system as an option for patients, we must have stability in reimbursement and regulation for enabling technologies like remote patient monitoring, telehealth, software as a device (FDA), clinical decision support and sensors. This panel will explore the policy debates around the technologies making Hospital at Home possible.
