Desiree Shapiro, MD is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Shapiro serves as the Director for the UC San Diego Healer Education Assessment & Referral (HEAR) Program, providing education, anonymous stress and depression screening, referral, and support for all UC San Diego Health learners and workers. She also serves as the Advisor for Student Wellness for the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity and the UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Shapiro is dedicated to supporting individual and community well-being, fostering health promotion, and encouraging empathy, compassion, and belonging. She also holds the role of Co-Director for the Practice of Medicine Course and Director of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Inclusive Excellence Program.
