Abid Khan is a Senior Advisor at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Innovation Center, specializing the design and implementation of multipayer models such as the Achieving Healthcare Efficiency through Accountable Design (AHEAD) and Maryland Total Cost of Care Models. He has a profound interest in transformational value-based care innovations including hospital global budgets, comprehensive primary care programs, behavioral and mental health integration, and hospital-at-home initiatives. Prior to CMS, Dr. Khan spent over a decade in leadership roles for the American Urological Association overseeing scientific programs spanning clinical quality improvement, quality measure development, patient safety, and clinical practice guidelines, and advised hospitals and health systems on quality improvement and cost-effectiveness. Abid’s educational background includes a doctorate in health policy and management and a master’s degree in health sciences from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from McGill University.
