Alecia Sanchez is Chief Strategy Officer of the California Medical Association (CMA), a non-profit organization representing almost 50,000 physicians in all modes of practice and specialties dedicated to promoting the science and art of medicine, the protection of public health and the betterment of the medical profession.
Sanchez leads the Center for Strategic Engagement where she manages regulatory advocacy in areas related to scope of practice, licensure and discipline, workforce, and public health. She also coorindates the organization’s policy development process, the outcome of which serves as the foundation of CMA’s advocacy engagement.
Sanchez has a broad organizational perspective having previously served as a member of CMA’s lobbying team, overseen the latest strategic planning effort, and served as interim staff leadership for multiple CMA subsidiaries during organizational transitions.
She managed many successful advocacy efforts as part of the CMA team, including the removal of non-medical exemptions for school vaccinations and the passage of a historic package of anti-tobacco legislation
