Josephine Fowler, MD, MBA, MSc
Dr. Josephine Fowler is a distinguished physician, advocate, and leader dedicated to advancing health equity. She is a professor and clinical vice chair of Family Medicine at UMass Memorial Medical Center and UMass Chan Medical School, as well as Chair of the AMA’s Minority Affairs Section Governing Council. Dr. Fowler works to address health disparities, support underrepresented physicians, and advocate for systemic policy changes that promote equitable maternal and child health care. She also serves on the Massachusetts Medical Society’s Committee on Maternal and Perinatal Welfare, focusing on reducing racial disparities in maternal and infant outcomes.
A passionate educator, Dr. Fowler fosters pathways for underrepresented students in medicine, championing diversity, equity, and inclusion in medical education. She is a vocal advocate for addressing implicit bias, expanding access to c
