Margaret B Collins, MD, FASH

Dr. Collins is a nephrologist and hypertension specialist who received her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also completed residency in internal medicine and fellowship in nephrology and hypertension. Several years working in private practice nephrology compelled her to look for ways to prevent kidney disease. To that end, she established and ran a clinic dedicated to resistant hypertension for 16 years. Troubled by the excessive burden of kidney disease falling on African Americans, she joined the effort to shed light on APOL1-Mediated Kidney Disease (AMKD) with Vertex Pharmaceuticals in 2022.
