Vice President for Well-Being Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)

A graduate of Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Stuart Slavin completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and then served as a faculty member there for 17 years. While at UCLA, Dr. Slavin held several leadership positions in education. He returned to Saint Louis University as Associate Dean for Curriculum in 2004. While there, he led efforts to improve the mental health of medical students that produced dramatic decreases in rates of depression and anxiety in pre-clerkship students. He joined the ACGME in 2018 as a senior scholar for well-being and has helped to lead efforts to improve the mental health of residents, fellows, faculty members, and staff across the US. In addition to his work in graduate medical education, Dr. Slavin is engaged in research focusing on mental health of high school, college, and medical students.
